Description

Indulge in the rich and creamy Baked Eggs Napoleon, featuring layers of delectable fillings nestled in a flaky puff pastry shell, perfect for brunch gatherings.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package (14.1 oz) frozen puff pastry sheets
  • 1 beaten egg (for egg wash)
  • Everything bagel seasoning (optional)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 finely chopped shallot
  • 2 minced garlic cloves
  • 10 oz fresh spinach
  • 4 oz softened cream cheese
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 4 large eggs
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • Chopped fresh chives (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and grease four 4-inch ramekins.
  2. Thaw the puff pastry according to the package instructions and roll it out gently.
  3. Cut circles that will fit into your ramekins and place them inside.
  4. Blind bake the pastry for 12-15 minutes until golden.
  5. Heat a small sauté pan over medium heat, add olive oil, and sauté shallot and garlic until fragrant.
  6. Add the spinach and cook until wilted.
  7. Stir in cream cheese, heavy cream, Parmesan, nutmeg, salt, and pepper until blended.
  8. Divide the mixture into the baked tart shells and crack an egg on top of each.
  9. Brush the edges with the beaten egg and sprinkle everything bagel seasoning if desired.
  10. Bake again for 12-18 minutes until egg whites are set but yolks remain soft.
  11. Garnish with fresh chives and serve warm.

Notes

Customize by swapping spinach for other greens or trying different cheeses. Can be made ahead by preparing filling a day prior.
