- 3 ripe bananas, sliced
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder

- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a skillet, melt the butter and brown sugar over medium heat, stirring until combined.
- Add the sliced bananas to the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes until caramelized.
- Pour the banana mixture into a greased cake pan.
- In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In another bowl, cream together the granulated sugar and eggs until light and fluffy.
- Add the vanilla extract and buttermilk to the egg mixture, mixing well.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined.
- Pour the batter over the caramelized bananas in the cake pan.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool for 10 minutes before inverting onto a serving plate.
Notes
- Serve warm with vanilla ice cream for an extra treat.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
- For a richer flavor, add a splash of rum to the banana mixture.
