Description

Indulge in a flavor-packed Cajun crispy chicken sandwich topped with creamy garlic aioli, fresh romaine lettuce, and juicy tomatoes, all nestled in a soft brioche bun.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 brioche buns
  • Leafy romaine lettuce
  • Sliced tomatoes

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Marinade: In a large bowl, combine the buttermilk and Cajun seasoning. Immerse the chicken breasts, cover, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour (overnight is even better).
  2. Dredge the Chicken: In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper until blended.
  3. Heat the Oil: Fill your deep skillet with enough vegetable oil to immerse the chicken, then heat it over medium-high heat (aim for about 350°F).
  4. Coat the Chicken: Remove the chicken from the buttermilk, allowing excess to drip off. Dredge each piece in the seasoned flour mixture, ensuring an even coating.
  5. Fry to Perfection: Carefully place the chicken in the hot oil. Fry for 5-7 minutes on each side or until golden brown and the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F. Sprinkle a pinch of sea salt as it comes out for extra flavor!
  6. Whip Up the Garlic Aioli: Meanwhile, in a small bowl, mix together mayonnaise, minced garlic, lemon juice, salt, and black pepper until smooth and creamy.
  7. Assemble the Sandwich: Drain the fried chicken on paper towels to remove excess oil. Spread a generous amount of garlic aioli on the bottom half of each brioche bun. Add a layer of romaine lettuce, followed by a juicy slice of tomato, and finally, the crispy chicken. Cap it with the bun’s top half. Serve immediately!

Notes

Marinate the chicken overnight for optimal flavor and tenderness. For a lighter option, use an air fryer at 375°F for about 12-15 minutes.
