- Red food coloring

Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

- In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until combined.
- Divide the dough in half. Leave one half plain and add red food coloring to the other half, mixing until the color is uniform.
- Take small pieces of each dough and roll them into ropes. Twist the red and white ropes together to form a candy cane shape.
- Place the cookies on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and sprinkle with candy cane pieces.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
- Allow to cool on a wire rack before serving.
