Description

Caramelized Onion Bacon Jam is a delicious blend of sweet caramelized onions and savory bacon, perfect for spreading on toast or as a topping for burgers.


Ingredients

  • 4 large onions, thinly sliced
  • 6 slices of bacon, chopped
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, cook the chopped bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove and set aside.
  2. In the same skillet, add the sliced onions and cook over low heat, stirring occasionally, until they are caramelized, about 30-40 minutes.
  3. Add the cooked bacon back to the skillet with the onions.
  4. Stir in the brown sugar, balsamic vinegar, maple syrup, salt, and pepper.
  5. Cook for an additional 10-15 minutes until the mixture thickens.
  6. Remove from heat and let cool before transferring to a jar.
