Description

Delight in these warm, gooey Chocolate Chip Cherry Bars that blend the rich sweetness of chocolate with the tartness of cherries, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1 cup light brown sugar (packed)
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt (optional)
  • 3/4 to 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup cherries (fresh or frozen)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8-inch baking pan with aluminum foil and spray lightly with cooking spray.
  2. Melt the butter in a medium microwave-safe bowl for about 60 seconds until completely liquid.
  3. Add the packed brown sugar and stir until smooth and velvety.
  4. Crack in the egg and add the vanilla extract, stirring until well-combined.
  5. Fold in the flour and salt (if using), mixing just until moistened.
  6. Incorporate the chocolate chips and cherries without cutting the cherries.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared pan, smoothing with a spatula.
  8. Bake for 27 to 32 minutes, or until edges pull away and the center is set.
  9. Cool for at least an hour before slicing.

Notes

For the best flavor, use fresh cherries or frozen if necessary. Allow the bars to cool completely for easier slicing.
