- 1 cup cherries (fresh or frozen)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8-inch baking pan with aluminum foil and spray lightly with cooking spray.
- Melt the butter in a medium microwave-safe bowl for about 60 seconds until completely liquid.
- Add the packed brown sugar and stir until smooth and velvety.
- Crack in the egg and add the vanilla extract, stirring until well-combined.
- Fold in the flour and salt (if using), mixing just until moistened.
- Incorporate the chocolate chips and cherries without cutting the cherries.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan, smoothing with a spatula.
- Bake for 27 to 32 minutes, or until edges pull away and the center is set.
- Cool for at least an hour before slicing.
Notes
For the best flavor, use fresh cherries or frozen if necessary. Allow the bars to cool completely for easier slicing.
