- 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar (for coating)
- 1 tbsp ground cinnamon (for coating)
- Whipped cream, powdered sugar, fresh berries, maple syrup, chopped nuts (optional for serving)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Line a 12-cup muffin tin with paper liners.
- Whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, salt, and ground cinnamon in a medium bowl.
- Whisk together the melted butter, milk, eggs, ground nutmeg, and vanilla extract in a large bowl until smooth.
- Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring gently until just combined.
- Evenly divide the batter among the prepared muffin cups, filling each about two-thirds full.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool in the tin for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
- Mix together the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon in a shallow dish.
- Dip the tops of the warm muffins into the cinnamon sugar mixture.
- Return to the oven for an additional 2-3 minutes.
Notes
You can prepare the batter the night before and store it in the refrigerator. For an air fryer alternative, bake at 350°F (175°C).
