Description

Crispy Cheese Borek with Chili Honey Drizzle is a delicious pastry filled with cheese and drizzled with a sweet and spicy honey sauce, perfect for a snack or appetizer.


Ingredients

  • 1 package of phyllo dough
  • 2 cups of feta cheese, crumbled
  • 1 cup of ricotta cheese
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/4 cup of fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1/4 cup of olive oil
  • 1/2 cup of honey
  • 12 teaspoons of chili flakes (to taste)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix the feta cheese, ricotta cheese, beaten egg, parsley, salt, and pepper until well combined.
  3. Lay out one sheet of phyllo dough and brush it lightly with olive oil.
  4. Place another sheet of phyllo on top and brush with more olive oil.
  5. Cut the phyllo into strips and place a spoonful of the cheese mixture at one end of each strip.
  6. Fold the phyllo over the filling to form a triangle and continue folding until you reach the end of the strip.
  7. Place the borek on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and brush the tops with olive oil.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
  9. While the borek is baking, prepare the chili honey drizzle by heating honey in a small saucepan and adding chili flakes.
  10. Once the borek is done, drizzle the chili honey over the top and serve warm.

  • For a vegetarian option, ensure the cheese used is rennet-free.
  • Adjust the amount of chili flakes based on your spice preference.
