Description

A delightful blend of croissant and bread, this Croissant Bread Loaf is flaky, buttery, and perfect for breakfast or as a snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, cold
  • 1/2 cup milk, warm
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg, for egg wash

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine warm milk and sugar, then sprinkle yeast on top and let it sit for 5 minutes.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt.
  3. Add the yeast mixture to the flour and mix until a dough forms.
  4. Roll out the cold butter between two sheets of parchment paper into a rectangle.
  5. Incorporate the butter into the dough by folding and rolling it out several times.
  6. Shape the dough into a loaf and place it in a greased loaf pan.
  7. Cover and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour.
  8. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  9. Brush the top of the loaf with the beaten egg.
  10. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.

Notes

  • Let the loaf cool before slicing for cleaner cuts.
  • Can be served with jam or butter for added flavor.
