Description

A Deconstructed Sushi Rice Bowl offers a fresh and flavorful twist on traditional sushi, combining all the essential ingredients in a convenient bowl format.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups sushi rice
  • 2 1/2 cups water
  • 1/4 cup rice vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 avocado, sliced
  • 1 cucumber, julienned
  • 1 carrot, shredded
  • 1/2 pound cooked shrimp or crab meat
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • Nori sheets, cut into strips

Instructions

  1. Rinse the sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
  2. In a pot, combine the rinsed rice and water, and bring to a boil.
  3. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 20 minutes or until the rice is tender.
  4. In a small bowl, mix rice vinegar, sugar, and salt until dissolved.
  5. Once the rice is cooked, remove from heat and let it sit covered for 10 minutes.
  6. Fluff the rice with a fork and gently mix in the vinegar mixture.
  7. In serving bowls, layer the sushi rice, avocado, cucumber, carrot, and shrimp or crab meat.
  8. Drizzle with soy sauce and sprinkle with sesame seeds and nori strips.
  9. Serve immediately and enjoy your deconstructed sushi rice bowl!
