Description

A comforting Korean rice dish with buttery rice and creamy egg, creating a delightful meal that heals the soul.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups Cooked Short Grain or Jasmine Rice
  • 1 tablespoon Unsalted Butter
  • 1 large Egg
  • 0.5 teaspoon Vegetable Oil
  • 1 teaspoon Toasted Sesame Oil
  • 1 tablespoon Soy Sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Toasted Sesame Seeds
  • 2 tablespoons Chopped Green Onion

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Rice: Start with freshly cooked rice. Ideally, it should be hot and slightly sticky.
  2. Melt the Butter: Heat a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat and add the unsalted butter.
  3. Mix in the Rice: Once the butter is melted, add the cooked rice and toss well.
  4. Fry the Egg: Push the rice to one side, crack the egg into the other side and cook for about 30 seconds.
  5. Season It Up: Pour in the soy sauce and adjust the seasoning to taste.
  6. Finish with Oils and Garnish: Drizzle with vegetable and toasted sesame oil, garnish with sesame seeds and green onions.
  7. Serve Warm: Scoop the Gyeran Bap into bowls and enjoy!

Notes

Use hot rice for best results. Customize with vegetables or proteins as desired.
