Description

Delightful strawberry cream puffs with a buttery choux pastry filled with creamy strawberry filling, perfect for celebrations.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 4 large eggs
  • 8 oz cream cheese or mascarpone
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 cups heavy cream (well chilled)
  • 1 cup finely diced strawberries
  • 1 cup sliced strawberries (for garnish; optional)
  • 2 tbsp powdered sugar (for dusting)

Instructions

  1. Combine 1 cup water and 1/2 cup unsalted butter in a medium saucepan, adding 1/4 teaspoon salt. Bring to a gentle boil.
  2. Remove from heat and stir in 1 cup of all-purpose flour until combined.
  3. Allow the dough to cool for 5 minutes, then beat in 4 large eggs one at a time.
  4. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  5. Transfer the dough to a piping bag and pipe small mounds onto the prepared baking sheet.
  6. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown and puffed.
  7. Whip 2 cups of well-chilled heavy cream until soft peaks form.
  8. Beat together 8 oz of softened cream cheese, 1/2 cup powdered sugar, and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract until creamy.
  9. Fold the whipped cream with the cream cheese mixture and mix in 1 cup of finely diced strawberries.
  10. Slice the tops off the cooled choux pastry shells, fill with the creamy strawberry filling, and cap with the tops.
  11. Dust with powdered sugar and garnish with sliced strawberries.

Notes

These cream puffs are best enjoyed the same day but can be stored in the refrigerator for a short time.
