Description

A delicious fusion of rich, caramelized onions and gooey Gruyère cheese nestled between perfectly toasted slices of bread.


Ingredients

  • 4 slices of bread (sourdough or baguette)
  • 2 cups of caramelized onions
  • 2 cups of shredded Gruyère cheese
  • Butter for spreading
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat your skillet over medium heat and add butter.
  2. Caramelize the onions by stirring occasionally for 20-30 minutes.
  3. Prepare the bread by buttering one side of each slice.
  4. Assemble the sandwich with one slice of bread in the skillet, topped with caramelized onions and Gruyère cheese.
  5. Top with another slice of bread, butter side up.
  6. Cook until the bottom is golden brown, then flip and cook the other side.
  7. Serve warm, sliced in half to enjoy the melty cheese.

Notes
