- 4 slices of bread (sourdough or baguette)
- 2 cups of caramelized onions
- 2 cups of shredded Gruyère cheese
- Butter for spreading
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Heat your skillet over medium heat and add butter.
- Caramelize the onions by stirring occasionally for 20-30 minutes.
- Prepare the bread by buttering one side of each slice.
- Assemble the sandwich with one slice of bread in the skillet, topped with caramelized onions and Gruyère cheese.
- Top with another slice of bread, butter side up.
- Cook until the bottom is golden brown, then flip and cook the other side.
- Serve warm, sliced in half to enjoy the melty cheese.
