Description

Deliciously flaky French onion sausage rolls filled with savory ground pork and caramelized onions, perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 1 sheet of puff pastry
  • 1 lb ground pork
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Heat a touch of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  3. Add the finely chopped onions and minced garlic, cooking until the onions turn soft and translucent, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Transfer the cooked onions to a mixing bowl and add the ground pork, dried thyme, salt, and pepper. Mix until thoroughly combined.
  5. Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface and cut into rectangles, approximately 4 inches by 6 inches.
  6. Place a generous amount of the pork mixture onto the center of each rectangle.
  7. Roll the pastry around the filling tightly and pinch the edges to seal securely.
  8. Brush the tops of the rolls with the beaten egg.
  9. Place them on a lined baking sheet, allowing space between each roll.
  10. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the pastry is puffed and golden brown.

Notes

Make the filling ahead of time and store in the fridge for up to two days. For a lighter option, try air frying at 375°F (190°C) for 15-20 minutes.
