German Chocolate Earthquake Cake is a decadent dessert that combines rich chocolate cake with a creamy coconut and pecan topping, creating a delightful surprise in every bite.


Ingredients

  • 1 package German chocolate cake mix
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 cup shredded coconut
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the cake mix, water, vegetable oil, and eggs. Mix until well combined.
  3. Pour half of the cake batter into the prepared pan.
  4. In another bowl, beat the cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth. Stir in the coconut and pecans.
  5. Spread the cream cheese mixture over the cake batter in the pan.
  6. Pour the remaining cake batter over the cream cheese layer.
  7. Sprinkle chocolate chips on top.
  8. Bake for 40-45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  9. Allow to cool before serving.
