Description

Ghostly Meringue Cookies are light, airy, and spooky treats perfect for Halloween celebrations.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large egg whites
  • 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon almond extract
  • Chocolate chips (for eyes)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 200°F (93°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a clean bowl, beat the egg whites and cream of tartar until soft peaks form.
  3. Gradually add the sugar, continuing to beat until stiff peaks form and the mixture is glossy.
  4. Mix in the vanilla and almond extracts.
  5. Transfer the meringue to a piping bag and pipe ghost shapes onto the prepared baking sheet.
  6. Place chocolate chips on each meringue to create eyes.
  7. Bake for 1.5 to 2 hours, or until the meringues are dry and can be easily lifted off the parchment.
  8. Turn off the oven and let the meringues cool completely inside the oven.

Notes

  • Ensure no yolk gets into the egg whites for best results.
  • Store in an airtight container to keep them crisp.
