- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
- 8 slices thick-cut beef bacon
- 6 ounces sharp cheddar cheese, grated or thinly sliced
- 1 medium Granny Smith apple, thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons hot honey
- Pinch flaky sea salt (optional)
Instructions
- If making hot honey, combine ½ cup honey and 1-2 tablespoons of red pepper flakes. Heat gently for 5-7 minutes, let steep, then strain.
- Cook beef bacon in a skillet until crispy, about 8-12 minutes. Drain and break into pieces.
- Prepare apple by washing, coring, and slicing thinly. Grate or slice cheddar cheese.
- Assemble sandwiches: Butter one side of each bread slice, layer cheese, apple, bacon, and hot honey on unbuttered sides, then top with remaining cheese and buttered bread.
- Grill sandwiches in a heated skillet with bacon fat or butter for 4-6 minutes each side until golden and melty.
- Cut sandwiches diagonally, serve warm with optional hot honey drizzle and sea salt.
