Description

Ingredients

  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • 1/2 cup hot honey (store-bought or homemade)
  • Optional: more hot honey for serving

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Coating: In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper until well combined.
  2. Coat the Shrimp: Dip each shrimp into the buttermilk, then coat in the seasoned flour mixture.
  3. Heat the Oil: Pour vegetable oil into your deep pan, and heat to around 350°F (175°C).
  4. Fry the Shrimp: Carefully add the shrimp in batches and fry for about 3-4 minutes until golden brown.
  5. Drain Excess Oil: Remove the fried shrimp from the oil and let drain on a paper towel-lined plate.
  6. Toss with Hot Honey: In a large bowl, drizzle the hot honey over the shrimp and toss gently.
  7. Serve and Enjoy: Present the shrimp with extra hot honey on the side for dipping.
