- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- Vegetable oil for frying
- 1/2 cup hot honey (store-bought or homemade)
- Optional: more hot honey for serving
Instructions
- Prepare the Coating: In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper until well combined.
- Coat the Shrimp: Dip each shrimp into the buttermilk, then coat in the seasoned flour mixture.
- Heat the Oil: Pour vegetable oil into your deep pan, and heat to around 350°F (175°C).
- Fry the Shrimp: Carefully add the shrimp in batches and fry for about 3-4 minutes until golden brown.
- Drain Excess Oil: Remove the fried shrimp from the oil and let drain on a paper towel-lined plate.
- Toss with Hot Honey: In a large bowl, drizzle the hot honey over the shrimp and toss gently.
- Serve and Enjoy: Present the shrimp with extra hot honey on the side for dipping.
