- 1 package puff pastry (thawed)
- 8 oz deli ham (sliced)
- 8 oz cheese (Swiss, cheddar, or Gruyère)
- 1 egg (beaten for egg wash)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Roll out the puff pastry to about 1/8-inch thickness on a lightly floured surface.
- Cut the pastry into rectangles, about 3 inches by 5 inches.
- Layer ham on one rectangle, then top it with cheese, and place another rectangle on top.
- Repeat layering until you reach your desired height (usually three to four layers).
- Brush the tops with egg wash.
- Bake on a parchment-lined baking sheet for 15-20 minutes or until golden and crispy.
- Cool slightly on a wire rack before serving.
Notes
Make ahead by preparing the ham and cheese layers in advance. For freezing, assemble the stacks and freeze before baking.
