Description

Deliciously flaky stacks of puff pastry filled with savory ham and melty cheese, perfect for brunch or as an appetizer.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package puff pastry (thawed)
  • 8 oz deli ham (sliced)
  • 8 oz cheese (Swiss, cheddar, or Gruyère)
  • 1 egg (beaten for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Roll out the puff pastry to about 1/8-inch thickness on a lightly floured surface.
  3. Cut the pastry into rectangles, about 3 inches by 5 inches.
  4. Layer ham on one rectangle, then top it with cheese, and place another rectangle on top.
  5. Repeat layering until you reach your desired height (usually three to four layers).
  6. Brush the tops with egg wash.
  7. Bake on a parchment-lined baking sheet for 15-20 minutes or until golden and crispy.
  8. Cool slightly on a wire rack before serving.

Notes

Make ahead by preparing the ham and cheese layers in advance. For freezing, assemble the stacks and freeze before baking.
