Description

Deliciously rich and creamy cookies inspired by the classic dessert, crème brûlée, featuring a caramelized sugar topping.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
  3. Add the eggs and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
  6. Stir in the heavy cream until the dough is smooth.
  7. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
  9. Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes.
  10. Sprinkle the tops of the cookies with granulated sugar and use a kitchen torch to caramelize the sugar until golden brown.

Notes

  • For best results, use a kitchen torch to caramelize the sugar on top of the cookies.
  • Allow the cookies to cool completely before serving to let the caramelized sugar harden.
  • Store any leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature.
