Loaded Sweet Potato Casserole: A Delicious Twist on Tradition

A delicious and hearty twist on the traditional sweet potato casserole, loaded with toppings and flavors.


Ingredients

  • 4 large sweet potatoes
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 cup mini marshmallows
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans
  • 1/2 cup crumbled bacon (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Peel and cube the sweet potatoes, then boil them until tender.
  3. Drain the sweet potatoes and mash them in a large bowl.
  4. Add milk, brown sugar, melted butter, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and nutmeg to the mashed sweet potatoes and mix well.
  5. Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish.
  6. Top with mini marshmallows, chopped pecans, and crumbled bacon if using.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the marshmallows are golden brown.

Notes

  • For a vegan version, substitute milk with almond milk and butter with coconut oil.
  • Feel free to adjust the sweetness by adding more or less brown sugar.
  • This dish can be prepared ahead of time and baked just before serving.
