Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 12 tbsp milk (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
  2. In a saucepan, heat milk and butter until warm; add to dry ingredients.
  3. Add egg and mix until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough for about 5 minutes until smooth.
  5. Let the dough rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  6. Roll out the dough and sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar.
  7. Shape the dough into knots and place on a baking sheet.
  8. Let the knots rise for another 30 minutes.
  9. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Mix maple syrup and powdered sugar for the glaze and drizzle over warm knots.
