Description

An irresistible appetizer featuring crispy bacon, creamy goat cheese, and a drizzle of maple syrup atop toasted baguette slices.


Ingredients

  • 8 slices thick-cut bacon
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • Red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 large baguette
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 8 ounces goat cheese log
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • Honey (optional)
  • Hot honey (optional)
  • Chopped fresh thyme
  • Chives
  • Candied pecans

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and arrange bacon in a single layer.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine brown sugar, water, black pepper, and cayenne pepper, then pour over the bacon.
  4. Bake the bacon for 20-25 minutes until crispy and caramelized.
  5. While bacon cools, slice the baguette into 1/2-inch rounds, brush with olive oil, and sprinkle with salt and black pepper.
  6. Toast baguette slices in the oven for about 8-10 minutes until golden and crisp.
  7. Spread goat cheese on each toasted baguette slice, top with bacon, and drizzle with maple syrup, garnishing with thyme, chives, and candied pecans.
  8. Serve and enjoy!

Notes

You can prepare the bacon and toast the baguette slices a day in advance. Assemble right before serving for best results.
