A delicious and hearty shepherd’s pie made with ground meat, vegetables, and topped with creamy mashed potatoes.

- 1 lb ground beef or lamb
- 1 cup carrots, diced
- 1 cup peas
- 1 cup corn
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 cup beef broth
- 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 4 cups mashed potatoes
- 1 cup shredded cheese (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a large skillet, cook the ground meat over medium heat until browned.
- Add the onion and garlic, cooking until softened.
- Stir in the carrots, peas, corn, tomato paste, beef broth, and Worcestershire sauce. Season with salt and pepper.
- Simmer for about 10 minutes until the mixture thickens.
- Transfer the meat mixture to a baking dish and spread the mashed potatoes on top.
- If desired, sprinkle shredded cheese over the mashed potatoes.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.
- Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
- For a vegetarian version, substitute the meat with lentils or mushrooms.
- Feel free to add other vegetables like green beans or bell peppers.
- This dish can be made ahead of time and frozen for later use.
