Description

A delightful one-skillet dish featuring rotini pasta, spicy sausage, and a sweet and spicy honey BBQ sauce that promises a vibrant meal perfect for weeknight dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 oz Rotini Pasta
  • 12 oz Spicy Sausage (Andouille or Italian), sliced
  • 1 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 3 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 cup BBQ Sauce (smoky or honey-based)
  • 2 tbsp Honey
  • 1 tsp Paprika
  • 1/2 tsp Chili Powder or Cayenne Pepper (adjust to taste)
  • Salt & Pepper, to taste
  • Fresh Parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Cook the Pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the rotini pasta according to package instructions until al dente, about 8-10 minutes. Drain and set aside, reserving a cup of pasta cooking water.
  2. Cook the Sausage: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the sliced sausage and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Remove and set aside.
  3. Sauté Garlic: In the same skillet, add garlic and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. Make the Sauce: Pour in BBQ sauce, honey, paprika, chili powder, salt, and pepper. Stir and simmer for 2-3 minutes until thickened.
  5. Combine and Toss: Return sausage and pasta to the skillet and toss until evenly coated. Add reserved pasta water as necessary for consistency.
  6. Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle with parsley and serve hot.

Notes

Customize the dish with different sausages or add vegetables like bell peppers or spinach for extra nutrition. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to three days.
