Description

Pretzel Bites with Beer Cheese Dip are a delicious snack perfect for parties or game day, combining soft, chewy pretzel bites with a creamy, flavorful cheese dip made with beer.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 ½ cups warm water
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup baking soda
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • Coarse sea salt, for sprinkling
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup cream cheese
  • ½ cup beer
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add flour and salt to the yeast mixture and knead until smooth.
  3. Cover the dough and let it rise for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  4. Preheat the oven to 450°F (232°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  5. In a large pot, bring 10 cups of water and baking soda to a boil.
  6. Divide the dough into small pieces and roll each into a bite-sized ball.
  7. Boil the pretzel bites in the baking soda water for 30 seconds, then remove and place on the baking sheet.
  8. Brush the bites with beaten egg and sprinkle with coarse sea salt.
  9. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
  10. For the beer cheese dip, combine cheddar cheese, cream cheese, beer, garlic powder, and onion powder in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir until melted and smooth.
  11. Serve the pretzel bites warm with the beer cheese dip.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, use a stout beer in the cheese dip.
  • These pretzel bites can be frozen after baking; reheat in the oven before serving.
  • Adjust the seasoning in the cheese dip to taste.
