Description

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1/2 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Add melted butter and the yeast mixture. Knead until a smooth dough forms.
  3. Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  4. In a skillet, cook the chopped onion until translucent, then add ground beef and cook until browned. Season with salt and pepper.
  5. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  6. Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into small balls. Roll each ball into a circle.
  7. Place a spoonful of the meat mixture in the center of each circle, fold over, and pinch the edges to seal.
  8. Place the piroshki on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush with beaten egg.
  9. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
