Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat and sauté onions and garlic until translucent.
- Add sliced mushrooms and cook until they release their moisture and become golden brown.
- Season with salt and pepper, then remove from heat and let cool.
- Roll out the puff pastry on a floured surface and cut slits on the sides for braiding.
- Spread the mushroom mixture in the center and top with shredded Gruyère cheese.
- Braid the pastry by folding the slits over the filling, alternating sides.
- Brush the top with beaten egg for a golden finish.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
- Let cool slightly before slicing and serving.
