Description

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter, chilled and diced
  • 1/4 cup cold water
  • 1 lb minced meat (lamb or beef)
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix the flour and butter until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs.
  3. Add cold water gradually and knead to form a dough. Wrap in plastic and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  4. In a skillet, sauté the onion until translucent, then add the minced meat and cook until browned.
  5. Season the meat mixture with salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Allow to cool.
  6. Roll out the dough and cut into circles to form the base and lid of the pies.
  7. Place the meat mixture in the center of each base, cover with the lid, and seal the edges.
  8. Brush the tops with beaten egg.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
