Description

Shakshouka Toast is a delicious and flavorful breakfast dish that combines poached eggs in a spicy tomato sauce served on toasted bread.


Ingredients

  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 can (14 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 1 bell pepper, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 slices of bread (your choice)
  • Fresh parsley, for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a skillet, heat some oil over medium heat and sauté the onion and bell pepper until soft.
  2. Add the garlic, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper, and cook for another minute.
  3. Stir in the diced tomatoes and let the mixture simmer for about 10 minutes.
  4. Make small wells in the sauce and crack the eggs into each well.
  5. Cover the skillet and cook until the eggs are set to your liking.
  6. Meanwhile, toast the bread slices.
  7. Serve the shakshouka over the toasted bread and garnish with fresh parsley.

Notes

  • For a spicier version, add chili flakes or fresh chili peppers.
  • Feel free to add other vegetables like spinach or zucchini.
