Description

Delicious and spooky Skeleton Bone Meringue Sticks perfect for Halloween celebrations.


Ingredients

  • 4 large egg whites
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • Edible black gel food coloring

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 200°F (93°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a clean mixing bowl, beat the egg whites until foamy.
  3. Add the cream of tartar and continue to beat until soft peaks form.
  4. Gradually add the sugar, one tablespoon at a time, while beating until stiff peaks form.
  5. Mix in the vanilla and almond extracts.
  6. Divide the meringue into two bowls; leave one white and color the other with black gel food coloring.
  7. Using a piping bag, pipe the meringue into bone shapes on the prepared baking sheet.
  8. Bake for 1.5 to 2 hours until the meringues are dry and can easily lift off the parchment.
  9. Turn off the oven and let the meringues cool completely inside.
  10. Once cooled, serve and enjoy your spooky treats!
