Description

Southern Pecan Caramel Cake is a rich and decadent dessert featuring layers of moist cake, creamy caramel, and crunchy pecans, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 cup caramel sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour three 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Stir in the buttermilk and vanilla extract.
  5. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
  7. Fold in the chopped pecans.
  8. Divide the batter evenly among the prepared cake pans.
  9. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  10. Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
  11. Once cooled, layer the cakes with caramel sauce in between and on top, garnishing with additional pecans.
