Ingredients
Scale
- 4 boneless chicken thighs
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Vegetable oil for frying
- 4 hamburger buns
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
- Pickles for topping (optional)
Instructions
- Marinate the chicken thighs in buttermilk for at least 1 hour or overnight.
- In a bowl, mix flour, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet over medium heat.
- Remove chicken from buttermilk, dredge in the flour mixture, and shake off excess.
- Fry the chicken in hot oil until golden brown and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes per side.
- In a separate bowl, mix honey, softened butter, and chili powder to create the honey butter.
- Toast the hamburger buns lightly.
- Assemble the sandwiches by spreading honey butter on the buns, adding fried chicken, and topping with pickles if desired.
Notes
- For extra heat, add more cayenne pepper to the flour mixture.
- Let the chicken rest on a wire rack after frying to maintain crispiness.
- These sandwiches can be served with coleslaw for added crunch.
