- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, chilled and cubed
- 1/4 cup cold water
- 1 cup strawberry jam
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Sprinkles (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, and salt.
- Add the cubed butter and mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in cold water until the dough comes together.
- Roll out half of the dough and place it in a greased baking sheet.
- Spread the strawberry jam evenly over the dough.
- Roll out the remaining dough and place it over the jam layer.
- Seal the edges and cut slits in the top for steam to escape.
- Brush the top with the beaten egg.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
- Let it cool before drizzling with icing made from powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla.
- Add sprinkles if desired.
Notes
- For a more intense strawberry flavor, use fresh strawberries in addition to the jam.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
