Description

A delightful dessert featuring flaky biscuits layered with fresh strawberries and whipped cream, perfect for spring and summer gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons sugar (for strawberries)
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Mix the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl until well combined.
  3. Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in the milk just until the dough comes together; do not overmix.
  5. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and gently pat it into a 1-inch thick round.
  6. Cut the dough into wedges and place them on a baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Combine sliced strawberries with 2 tablespoons of sugar and let sit for 15 minutes.
  9. Beat the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until soft peaks form.
  10. Allow the biscuits to cool, then slice in half, layer with strawberries and whipped cream, and crown with the other biscuit half.
  11. Serve immediately.

Notes

Make-ahead tips: You can prepare your biscuits a day earlier and store them in an airtight container. Macerate strawberries a few hours before serving for enhanced flavor.
