Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup red food coloring
  • 1/2 cup green food coloring
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for decoration)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the eggs and vanilla extract to the butter mixture and mix well.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Divide the dough in half and add red food coloring to one half and green food coloring to the other half, mixing until the colors are well incorporated.
  7. Take small portions of each colored dough and roll them into logs. Twist the logs together to create a swirl effect.
  8. Slice the swirled logs into rounds and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  9. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
  10. Allow the cookies to cool before dusting with powdered sugar.
