Description

A vibrant twist on a classic sauce that combines the tartness of rhubarb with sweet and smoky flavors, perfect for grilled meats.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups Rhubarb, chopped
  • 1 Onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 cup Water
  • 1/2 cup Sugar
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 cup Celery, chopped
  • 1 tsp Ground Cloves
  • 1/2 tsp Ground Nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp Ground Cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup Apple Cider Vinegar
  • 1 tsp Liquid Smoke

Instructions

  1. Chop the rhubarb, onion, and celery into small, even pieces.
  2. Combine the rhubarb, onion, garlic, celery, and water in a large saucepan.
  3. Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat and cook until the rhubarb becomes tender (about 10 minutes).
  4. Add sugar, salt, cloves, nutmeg, cinnamon, vinegar, and liquid smoke.
  5. Simmer for an additional 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. Cool the mixture slightly before blending until smooth.
  7. Use as a marinade or sauce for grilled meats.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week or freeze in ice cube trays for future use.
