A delicious and tender braised beef brisket recipe that is perfect for any occasion.

- 3–4 lbs beef brisket
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 cup red wine
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 2 teaspoons dried thyme
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 carrots, chopped
- 2 stalks celery, chopped
- 1 bay leaf
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 300°F (150°C).
- In a large Dutch oven, heat olive oil over medium-high heat.
- Season the brisket with salt and pepper, then sear it in the hot oil until browned on both sides.
- Remove the brisket and set aside. In the same pot, add onions and garlic, sautéing until softened.
- Add the beef broth, red wine, tomato paste, thyme, carrots, celery, and bay leaf to the pot.
- Return the brisket to the pot, cover, and transfer to the oven.
- Braise for 3-4 hours, or until the meat is tender.
- Remove from the oven, let rest for 15 minutes, then slice and serve.
Notes
- For best results, use a well-marbled brisket.
- This dish can be made a day in advance and reheated.
- Serve with mashed potatoes or crusty bread.
