Description

Delightful blueberry rolls filled with creamy cheesecake goodness, perfect for breakfast or brunch.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 cup blueberries (fresh or canned)
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • Powdered sugar (for dusting)

Instructions

  1. Combine the warm milk, yeast, and sugar in a bowl. Stir gently and allow it to sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes bubbly and fragrant.
  2. Add the melted butter, vanilla extract, and egg to the yeast mixture. Mix well until thoroughly combined.
  3. Whisk together the flour and salt in a separate large bowl, then gradually incorporate the milk mixture, stirring until a dough begins to form.
  4. Dust your work surface with flour and knead the dough for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Transfer the dough to a greased bowl and cover with a damp cloth. Allow it to rise for approximately 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  6. Whip together the softened cream cheese and powdered sugar in another bowl until it becomes smooth and creamy.
  7. Roll out the risen dough on a floured surface into a large rectangle.
  8. Spread the cream cheese mixture over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges. Then sprinkle with blueberries.
  9. Roll the dough tightly away from you, forming a log. Slice it into rolls, about 1-2 inches thick.
  10. Place the rolls in a greased baking dish, allowing a little space between each, and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  11. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Brush the risen rolls with the beaten egg for a golden finish.
  12. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown, then let them cool slightly before dusting with powdered sugar.

Notes

For make-ahead, prepare the dough the night before and refrigerate after the first rise. Milk should be warm but not hot to activate yeast properly.
