Description

Ingredients

  • 1.5 cups Granulated Sugar
  • 1/2 cup Unsalted Butter
  • 3 large Eggs
  • 1.5 teaspoons Baking Powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Baking Soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 cup Buttermilk
  • 2 teaspoons Vanilla Extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two round cake pans.
  2. Cream together butter and sugar in a large mixing bowl using an electric mixer until light and fluffy, about 4-5 minutes.
  3. Add eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Incorporate the vanilla extract.
  4. Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a separate bowl. Gradually add the dry mixture to the creamed butter and eggs, alternating with buttermilk. Mix until just combined.
  5. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans. Smooth the tops with a spatula.
  6. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  7. Cool the cakes in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.
  8. Frost the cooled cake layers with your favorite frosting.
