- 1 lb ground beef (minced)
- 1 onion (chopped)
- 2 cloves garlic (minced)
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 1 tsp paprika
- 2 tbsp tomato paste or ketchup
- 1 cup cheddar cheese (shredded)
- 1 egg (for topping)
- 1 pie crust or puff pastry
- 2 tbsp butter
- Parsley (optional garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Sauté the butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, sautéing for about 3-5 minutes.
- Brown the ground beef, seasoning with salt, pepper, and paprika, cooking until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
- Add the tomato paste or ketchup, mixing well. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- Prepare your pie crust or puff pastry in the pie dish.
- Layer in the beef mixture, spreading it out, and sprinkle the cheddar cheese on top.
- Brush the egg over the crust for a golden finish.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbling.
- Cool slightly before serving and garnish with parsley.
Notes
Make the beef filling a day ahead for easy assembly. Customize with other cheeses or veggies for extra flavor.
