Description

A comforting cheesy baked beef pie with a golden crust, rich filling, and melty cheddar cheese.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef (minced)
  • 1 onion (chopped)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste or ketchup
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese (shredded)
  • 1 egg (for topping)
  • 1 pie crust or puff pastry
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • Parsley (optional garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Sauté the butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, sautéing for about 3-5 minutes.
  3. Brown the ground beef, seasoning with salt, pepper, and paprika, cooking until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Add the tomato paste or ketchup, mixing well. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  5. Prepare your pie crust or puff pastry in the pie dish.
  6. Layer in the beef mixture, spreading it out, and sprinkle the cheddar cheese on top.
  7. Brush the egg over the crust for a golden finish.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes, until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbling.
  9. Cool slightly before serving and garnish with parsley.

Notes

Make the beef filling a day ahead for easy assembly. Customize with other cheeses or veggies for extra flavor.
