A comfort food classic, this homemade meat lasagna features layers of savory beef, creamy ricotta, and gooey mozzarella.

- 12 lasagna noodles
- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 jar (24 oz) premium marinara or pasta sauce
- 1 container (15 oz) ricotta cheese
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese (divided)
- 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese (divided)
- 1 tbsp Italian seasoning
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- Finely chopped fresh parsley (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). If using traditional lasagna noodles, boil them in salted water until al dente, about 8-10 minutes.
- Drain the noodles and lay flat on wax paper to prevent sticking.
- Brown the ground beef and minced garlic in a large skillet over medium-high heat, stirring regularly.
- Drain any excess fat and mix in the marinara sauce and Italian seasoning. Simmer for 5 minutes, then season with salt and pepper.
- Combine the ricotta cheese, egg, half of the Parmesan cheese, 1 cup of mozzarella, and 2 tablespoons of parsley in a medium bowl until smooth.
- Spread 1 cup of meat sauce in a 9×13-inch baking dish. Layer 3 to 4 noodles over it, then 1/3 of the ricotta mixture, followed by 1/3 of the remaining meat sauce and a handful of mozzarella. Repeat this layering twice more.
- Top with the remaining meat sauce and sprinkle the rest of the mozzarella and Parmesan cheese on top.
- Cover with aluminum foil (spray the underside with cooking spray) and bake for 25 minutes. Uncover and bake for an additional 20-25 minutes until bubbly and golden brown.
- Rest for 15 minutes before slicing. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve.
Notes
Make-ahead by assembling the lasagna a day in advance. Consider using an air fryer for a faster option.
