Description
A comforting dish of penne pasta enveloped in a creamy sauce with tender steak bites, cheddar, mozzarella, and a hint of garlic.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb Sirloin, Ribeye, or New York Strip steak
- 1 tbsp Olive oil
- 1 tsp Garlic powder
- 1 tsp Smoked paprika
- Salt & Freshly cracked black pepper
- 1 lb Penne pasta
- 2 tbsp Unsalted butter
- 4 cloves Garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup Diced tomatoes
- 1 cup Beef broth (or low-sodium chicken broth)
- 1.5 cups Heavy cream
- 1 cup Sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, freshly grated
- 1 cup Mozzarella cheese, shredded
- Fresh parsley, finely chopped
- Extra cracked black pepper
Instructions
- Sear the steak: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Season the steak cubes with garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Cook for about 3-4 minutes until browned on all sides. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
- Create the base: In the same skillet, melt butter. Add minced garlic and sauté for around 1 minute until fragrant. Toss in the diced tomatoes, beef broth, and heavy cream. Bring to a gentle simmer.
- Add the cheeses: Stir in sharp cheddar and Parmesan cheese until melted and combined. Keep cooking until the sauce thickens slightly.
- Cook the pasta: While your sauce simmers, cook the penne pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain, but save a little pasta water in case you need to thin the sauce.
- Combine everything: Add the drained pasta to the skillet, along with the cooked steak bites. Toss everything together.
- Prepare for baking: Transfer the creamy steak penne to a baking dish. Top with mozzarella cheese, and sprinkle on the fresh parsley and extra cracked black pepper.
- Bake to perfection: Place in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese bubbles and turns golden.
