Description

Indulge in a succulent steak topped with creamy mushroom sauce and complemented by golden, crispy fries.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 high-quality steaks (such as sirloin or ribeye)
  • 1 lb potatoes, cut into thick fries
  • 1 cup cremini or button mushrooms, sliced
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt to taste
  • Cracked black pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Toss the potato strips with olive oil, salt, and pepper until evenly coated. Spread them out on a baking sheet and roast for 30-35 minutes, flipping halfway through to ensure even crispiness, until golden brown and deliciously crunchy.
  2. Generously season both sides of the steaks with salt and cracked black pepper. Heat the skillet over high heat, adding a drizzle of oil. Once shimmering, sear the steaks for 3-5 minutes per side, depending on your desired doneness. Remember to let them rest afterward; this ensures those delicious juices redistribute throughout the steak, enriching every bite.
  3. In the same skillet, lower the heat to medium. Add the butter and allow it to melt until foamy. Sauté the mushrooms, stirring occasionally, until they turn browned and tender, about 5-7 minutes. Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional 30 seconds until fragrant, swirling the mushrooms to absorb that garlicky goodness. Pour in the heavy cream, simmering until the sauce thickens slightly, seasoning with extra cracked black pepper to taste.
  4. To plate your masterpiece, place the steaks on warm plates. Generously pour the creamy mushroom sauce over the steaks, and arrange the crispy fries alongside. Garnish with a sprinkle of fresh parsley for a touch of color and flavor.

Notes

Make-ahead tips: Cut your fries and slice the mushrooms in advance, storing them in the fridge. Consider using an air fryer for healthier fries.
