Description

A heartwarming dish that combines tender chicken, creamy tomato sauce, and perfectly cooked penne pasta, promising comfort and flavor in every bite.


Ingredients

  • 8 oz penne pasta
  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breast, cut into bite-sized strips
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup fresh basil leaves, torn
  • 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • Salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning to taste

Instructions

  1. Boil the penne pasta in salted water until al dente, reserving 1/4 cup of pasta water before draining.
  2. Season the chicken strips with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning, then heat olive oil in a skillet and sear the chicken for 5-6 minutes until golden brown.
  3. Remove the chicken from the pan and set aside.
  4. Add minced garlic to the same skillet and sauté for 30 seconds. Then pour in the marinara sauce and heavy cream, stirring gently.
  5. Allow the sauce to bubble and thicken slightly over 2-3 minutes.
  6. Stir the cooked chicken and penne back into the sauce, adding some reserved pasta water if needed.
  7. Fold in most of the basil and plate immediately, garnishing with remaining basil and parmesan cheese.

Make-ahead tips: Prepare the chicken and sauce in advance and reheat together before adding pasta.
