- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 large egg
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- Cinnamon sugar (for dusting) or glaze (optional)
Instructions
- Whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and nutmeg until well combined.
- Combine the milk, egg, and melted butter in another bowl and whisk until frothy.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry mixture and gently mix until just combined.
- Heat the oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- Drop small balls of dough into the hot oil, taking care to avoid splashing.
- Fry for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown.
- Remove from the oil and drain on paper towels.
- Toss in cinnamon sugar or dip in glaze while still warm.
Notes
For a healthier option, you can bake the donut holes at 350°F (175°C) for 15-20 minutes instead of frying.
