Description

Delicious and simple homemade donut holes, perfectly golden and sweetened with cinnamon or glaze.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • Cinnamon sugar (for dusting) or glaze (optional)

Instructions

  1. Whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and nutmeg until well combined.
  2. Combine the milk, egg, and melted butter in another bowl and whisk until frothy.
  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry mixture and gently mix until just combined.
  4. Heat the oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
  5. Drop small balls of dough into the hot oil, taking care to avoid splashing.
  6. Fry for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  7. Remove from the oil and drain on paper towels.
  8. Toss in cinnamon sugar or dip in glaze while still warm.

Notes

For a healthier option, you can bake the donut holes at 350°F (175°C) for 15-20 minutes instead of frying.
