Description

A luxurious filet mignon seared to perfection, topped with homemade garlic herb butter, creating a symphony of flavors and aromas.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 Filet Mignon steaks (1.5 to 2 inches thick)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh rosemary, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme, chopped

Instructions

  1. Bring the filet mignon to room temperature by removing it from the refrigerator for about 30 minutes.
  2. Generously season both sides with salt and pepper.
  3. Heat a cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat and add olive oil until it shimmers.
  4. Sear the seasoned filet mignons for 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare doneness.
  5. Add the butter, garlic, rosemary, and thyme in the last minute of cooking.
  6. Baste the steaks with the melted herb butter.
  7. Rest the steaks on a cutting board for about 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

Prepping garlic herb butter in advance makes it easy to slice and serve. Avoid overcrowding the skillet and always allow steaks to rest.
