Ingredients
- Lasagna noodles (traditional or no-boil)
- Ground beef (or ground turkey/plante-based option)
- Onions
- Garlic
- Canned tomatoes
- Herbs (basil and oregano)
- Ricotta cheese
- Egg
- Parmesan cheese
- Mozzarella cheese
Instructions
- Prepare the meat sauce: In a large pot over medium heat, brown the ground beef for 5-7 minutes. Add onions and garlic, cooking until soft. Stir in tomatoes and herbs; simmer for 20-30 minutes.
- Mix the cheese filling: In a bowl, combine ricotta, egg, and Parmesan until smooth.
- Layer the ingredients: Spread a thin layer of meat sauce in the baking dish. Layer noodles, ricotta mixture, meat sauce, and mozzarella. Repeat layers, finishing with noodles and sauce topped with mozzarella.
- Bake to perfection: Cover with foil and bake at 375°F (190°C) for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until cheese is golden.
Notes
Assemble lasagna a day ahead for deeper flavors. Consider adding vegetables or using an air fryer for individual portions.
