Description

A comforting and indulgent homemade lasagna with layers of rich meat sauce, creamy ricotta, and gooey mozzarella.


Ingredients

  • Lasagna noodles (traditional or no-boil)
  • Ground beef (or ground turkey/plante-based option)
  • Onions
  • Garlic
  • Canned tomatoes
  • Herbs (basil and oregano)
  • Ricotta cheese
  • Egg
  • Parmesan cheese
  • Mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  1. Prepare the meat sauce: In a large pot over medium heat, brown the ground beef for 5-7 minutes. Add onions and garlic, cooking until soft. Stir in tomatoes and herbs; simmer for 20-30 minutes.
  2. Mix the cheese filling: In a bowl, combine ricotta, egg, and Parmesan until smooth.
  3. Layer the ingredients: Spread a thin layer of meat sauce in the baking dish. Layer noodles, ricotta mixture, meat sauce, and mozzarella. Repeat layers, finishing with noodles and sauce topped with mozzarella.
  4. Bake to perfection: Cover with foil and bake at 375°F (190°C) for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until cheese is golden.

Notes

Assemble lasagna a day ahead for deeper flavors. Consider adding vegetables or using an air fryer for individual portions.
