Description

Ingredients

  • 1 lb Ground Beef
  • 1 Onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 28 oz Canned Tomatoes
  • 1 tsp Dried Basil
  • 1 tsp Dried Oregano
  • 15 oz Ricotta Cheese
  • 1 Egg
  • 1/2 cup Grated Parmesan Cheese
  • 2 cups Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
  • Salt and Pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Begin by browning the ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onions and minced garlic, stirring until the onions become translucent. Next, pour in crushed tomatoes and sprinkle in herbs. Let this simmer for about 20 minutes.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the ricotta cheese with a beaten egg and grated parmesan. Stir until everything is blended, and season with salt and pepper to taste.
  3. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Layer meat sauce in the bottom of your baking dish to prevent sticking, followed by noodles, meat sauce, ricotta mixture, and mozzarella. Repeat until all components are used, ending with mozzarella.
  4. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until bubbling. Let it rest before slicing.

Notes

Make-ahead by preparing a day in advance. Adding vegetables can enhance healthiness.
