Description
A flavorful dish combining tender chicken breasts, creamy sauce, and vibrant broccoli florets wrapped around bowtie pasta.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 pieces Chicken Breasts
- 2 tablespoons Cajun Seasoning
- 1/2 cup Unsalted Butter
- 3 cloves Garlic
- 1 teaspoon Crushed Red Pepper Flakes
- 2 tablespoons Dijon Mustard
- 1 tablespoon Lemon Juice
- 1 tablespoon Lemon Zest
- 12 ounces Bowtie Pasta
- 1/2 cup Reserved Pasta Water
- 2 cups Broccoli Florets
- 1/4 cup Fresh Parsley & Chives
- 1/4 cup Parmesan Cheese (optional)
Instructions
- Cook the Pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a rolling boil. Add the bowtie pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1/2 cup of the pasta water before draining and set the pasta aside.
- Season the Chicken: Pat the chicken breasts dry with a paper towel. Sprinkle the Cajun seasoning generously on both sides.
- Sear the Chicken: In a large skillet over medium-high heat, melt 1/2 cup of unsalted butter. When the butter starts foaming, add the seasoned chicken breasts. Brown them on each side for about 5-7 minutes, until they’re golden and cooked through.
- Add Garlic: Once the chicken is done, add the minced garlic to the pan. Sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant; be careful not to let it burn.
- Mix the Sauce: Stir in the Dijon mustard, lemon juice, and zest. Gradually add the reserved pasta water to create a creamy sauce consistency. Add the crushed red pepper flakes for an extra kick.
- Combine Chicken and Broccoli: Add the cooked pasta and broccoli florets to the skillet, tossing everything together to coat in the sauce. Allow the broccoli to steam slightly in the residual heat for about 2-3 minutes.
- Garnish and Serve: Remove from heat, and sprinkle with fresh parsley, chives, and Parmesan cheese if desired. Serve hot.
Notes
For extra flavor, allow the chicken to marinate with Cajun seasoning for at least 30 minutes before cooking. Be careful while sautéing garlic as it burns quickly.
